In addition to her studies, Seneca has been involved in numerous Native American-related student activities. She helped found a local chapter of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society and has worked in the Buffalo Public Schools Native American Magnet School under a National Science Foundation grant led by Joseph A. Gardella Jr., John & Francis Larkin Professor of Chemistry at UB.
Seneca also helped mentor other Native American engineering students at UB, two of whom earned their master’s degrees the same day she received her doctorate.
“It’s been amazing,” she said of her time at UB.

Mary Gonzalez told them she was the best candidate to represent them and El Paso voters agreed, but along the way, the 28-year-old doctoral student at the University of Texas at Austin broke her share of barriers.
Erika Munson has never been to a pride parade. But this weekend, she will be in one, along with at least 100 other active Mormons who — decked out in their Sunday best — will march at the head of the Utah Pride Parade to show support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

You know that moment when you’re reading a book and you just have to stop and bite your lip and squeal or sigh or close your eyes and wrinkle your nose and forehead and press the book against your heart and just like sit there and try to soak up the gorgeous literature via osmosis?
That’s my favorite part of reading.
